Synagogue (Freistett)
The synagogue in Freistett , a district of Rheinau in the Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg , was probably built in the first half of the 19th century and extensively renovated in 1893. The synagogue was on the corner of Rheinstrasse and Freiburger Strasse.
The simple building with arched windows was in very poor condition around 1890. After the renovation, the synagogue was re-consecrated on August 25, 1893.
After the number of Jews in Freistett and Rheinbischofsheim had fallen sharply, the synagogue in Freistett was no longer used for church services from 1935 onwards. The Jews who remained in Freistett attended the service in Rheinbischofsheim until the synagogue there was destroyed in November 1938.
During the November pogrom in 1938 , the synagogue in Freistett was demolished and demolished a little later.
