The synagogue in Nentershausen , a municipality in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in the north-east of Hesse in Germany , was set up in an older half-timbered house around 1810 . The synagogue was on Unter den Linden , near the town hall and the post office.

In 1988, the laying of the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the former synagogue was celebrated in the open-air museum. Nevertheless, it took another two years to build. In April 1992 the plunge pool of the former mikveh with the stairs was set up, in June 1992 the topping-out ceremony took place. It was opened to the public in July 1996.

However, in 1986 the management of the Hessenpark museum in Neu-Anspach was interested in the former synagogue, so that the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the former synagogue could be celebrated in the open-air museum on the 50th anniversary of the November pogrom in 1938 . The construction was completed after two years. During the reconstruction, the former synagogue was restored to the state it was in after the last renovation in 1925. The destroyed gallery was reconstructed.
