The synagogue in Puderbach , a local community in the Neuwied district , was built in 1910/11. The synagogue was on Barentoner Strasse, right next to the railway line.

history

The synagogue, which was built by the building contractor Johann-Philipp Spies from Puderbach, was ceremoniously inaugurated on August 4th and 5th, 1911. It had a footprint of 9 by 7 meters and had high arched windows on the sides. On the west facade it had a porch with a staircase leading to the women's gallery .

During the November pogrom in 1938 , the synagogue was burned down by SS men. The ruin was demolished a short time later and the property was sold.

Commemoration

On November 10, 1979, a memorial plaque was placed on the cemetery chapel in memory of the Jewish residents and the synagogue of Puderbach .

In November 2012, a memorial plaque was placed on the back of the Puderbach Sparkasse building as a reminder that the synagogue was located at this location.
