The synagogue in Verdun , a French city ​​in the Meuse department of the Lorraine region , was built from 1873 to 1875. The synagogue at 13 rue des Frères-Boulhaut was classified as a Monument historique in 2002 .

history

The modern synagogue of Verdun was built in 1805 on the site of the former Dominican monastery. Completely destroyed during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870/71, the synagogue was rebuilt in the Moorish or Neo-Byzantine style according to plans by the architect Henri Mazilier . By German troops in World War II profaned , the synagogue was then restored and finally in 1996 completely renovated.
