The synagogue in the town of Belfort in the department Territoire de Belfort in the French region of Franche-Comte was built. 1857 The synagogue on Rue de l'As de Carreau has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 1983 .

The synagogue was designed by the Parisian architect Diogène Poisat. The two domes above the buildings to the right and left of the entrance are signs of the orientalizing style that was popular at the time . Inside, the women's gallery is lit by lead glass windows . The synagogue has a clock from the Ungerer company from Strasbourg , probably from the 1860s, which also built the Strasbourg cathedral clock.
