The synagogue in Munzenberg , a town in the Wetterau district in Hesse , was built between 1843 and 1848. The secular synagogue with the address Am Junkernhof 14 is a protected monument .

history

The two-story massive stone building with a gable roof faces the street on the gable side. The synagogue had 120 seats including the two women's galleries .

The interior of the synagogue was destroyed during the November pogrom in 1938 . The building then became the property of the city, which converted it into a fire station .

Todays use

In 2003 the Freundeskreis der Burg und Stadt Münzenberg eV presented a renovation and utilization concept for the synagogue building. In 2005, the Munzenberg city council decided to renovate the former synagogue. On May 29, 2009 the building was inaugurated as the Old Synagogue Culture House .
