The synagogue in Nice , a city in southern France , was built in 1886. The synagogue is located at 7 rue Gustave-Deloye. It has been a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ) since 2007 .

history

As the old synagogue had become too small for the growing number of parishioners, a new building was built according to the plans of the architect Paul Martin and the old synagogue building was sold. The new building is located on the site of the Opéra comique, which was demolished in 1885 . The interior design was created by the architect Brun.

The facade of the synagogue is made in the orientalizing style , which was very popular at the time. The top of the gable is crowned by the tablets of the law . The women ' s gallery in the prayer room is supported by pillars . Twelve stained glass windows were created in 1993 by Théo Tobiasse (* 1927; † November 3, 2012).
