The former Beth Zion synagogue ( Hebrew בית ציון , House Zion ' ) is located on the back of the Brunnenstrasse 33 in Berlin district center . It was built in 1910 by the umbrella manufacturer Fritz Hellwig and was a private synagogue of the Jewish Orthodox Beth Zion community. The interior was completely destroyed by the National Socialists during the November pogroms in 1938 , after which the building was empty for a long time. After the renovation began in the 1980s, it was re-consecrated in 2005, and since then it has served as the beit midrash of a Talmud Torah school and as the synagogue of the Kahal Adass Yisroel association .

The synagogue is a rectangular building made of brick masonry . The facade has double windows on the ground floor under a segmented arch and four large round windows with decorative brick borders on the first floor . Originally, wooden frames in the form of stars of David were set into these, but they are no longer there today. Above the main portal on the gable end there is a Hebrew inscription from Psalm 118 . The interior comprised 520 to 570 seats and also had a wooden gallery supported by six slender columns .

The listed building is of particular historical value, as it is one of the last remaining private court synagogues in Berlin.
