The Emperor Franz Joseph jubilee Temple (short anniversary Temple , also known as Synagogue Siebenbrunnengasse ) was a club synagogue of the association Beth Aharon ( House of Aaron ) in the 5th Viennese district Margareten ( Siebenbrunnengasse 1a).
history
The Beth Aharon association was founded in 1875 and had its prayer house built between 1907 and 1908 according to plans by Jakob Gartner . This synagogue represents the last work in a series of prayer houses by the architect. The synagogue was inaugurated in honor of the 60th jubilee of Emperor Franz Joseph I.
The building was erected on a rectangular plot of land and was largely enclosed by neighboring buildings so that only the street-side front was visible. The facade, dominated by a gabled central projectile, was surmounted by two massive, short towers with onion-shaped domes. In addition to the prayer room, the synagogue also housed a Talmud - Torah school.
The synagogue was destroyed in the course of the November pogroms in 1938 .
There is currently a residential building at this point, a memorial plaque for the former temple is on the facade of the neighboring house ( Mittersteig prison ).
