Bob Martens (born March 11, 1961 in Eindhoven ) is an Austrian-based architect and university professor who specializes in spatial simulation and design .

Life

Martens studied architecture and urban planning in Eindhoven and Vienna (diploma 1984; doctorate 1987) and has been working at the Vienna University of Technology at the Institute for Architecture and Design since 1988 . In particular, the realization of the first Austrian “spatial experiment laboratory” should be emphasized in the course of his work. It represents a simulation environment for the testing of spatial constructions and designs in real size. The habilitated scientist Martens has been propagating and conceiving student design exercises since then, which have an intensive relationship with the users and various stakeholders. At the same time, Martens is strongly committed to putting the analog and digital environment in an effective dialogue. In this context, the virtual reconstruction of (Viennese) synagogues contains an important research focus.

When the Continuing Education Center was founded in 2005, a roof over further education at the Vienna University of Technology was established, since then this has represented a further field of activity (Dean of Studies). In particular, the further development of the property management courses is promoted by him as the course leader.
