Syrna ( Greek Σύρνα [ ˈsirna ] ( f. Sg. )), Formerly also called Sirina ( Greek Σειρήνα [ siˈrina ] ( f. Sg. )), Is a Greek Aegean island , located 35 km southeast of Astypalea and 44 km southwest of Nisyros . Administratively, Syrna belongs to the municipality of Astypalea in the Greek region of South Aegean , Dodecanese regional district .

The highest point of the only 7.8 km² large island is 322 meters high. Today Syrna is uninhabited, remains of buildings can be found on a flatter headland between two bays in the southwest of the island; there is also a chapel dedicated to St. John, and a second chapel on the island is dedicated to St. George. Residents of other islands continue to practice animal husbandry, agriculture and fishing on Syrna.

Minoan finds from the middle Bronze Age prove an early settlement of the island. Several shipwrecks from Classical or Byzantine times have been found in the sea area around the island.
