Szarik
Szarik (German: Scharik ) is through the cult film series Four Tank Soldiers and a Dog (original title Czterej pancerni i pies ) the best known Old German Shepherd Dog in the history of Polish television . Szarik (ша́рик) in Russian means globule, ball or marble (colloquially in Polish it is more like gray cells or brains ). As the loyal companion of the four tank drivers, the dog always shows extraordinary courage and intelligence and not only rescues the crew members of the "Rudy" tank in heroic actions. He is the real hero of the series, comparable to the dog Rex in the crime series Kommissar Rex . Many dogs in Poland have been named after him, even the dachshund . Also in the GDR was Szarik a well-known dog's name.
In the series, Szarik is played by "Trymer", a Polish police dog, with two exceptions.
