Four tank soldiers and a dog (original title: Czterej pancerni i pies ) was a Polish television series based on the novel of the same name by Janusz Przymanowski , who also wrote the screenplay .
action
In the center of the action, the occupation is a tank in World War II : The four soldiers Janek, Gustlik, Grigory, their commander Olgierd and Janek's dog Szarik form the crew of the T-34 - main battle tank " Rudy " (ie German redhead and refers to the red-haired medic - see part 5) and fight in a Polish unit against the German armed forces . Filming
The series was created in three seasons. It was filmed in 1966 and 1967 in the following cities and places in Poland: Aleksandrów Łódzki , Bydgoszcz , Spała , Kłodzko and Żagań .
Broadcasting and dissemination
The series premiered in Poland on September 25, 1966. It was very successful - not least because the topic of World War II was presented in an entertaining way and presented more easily. It gained cult status in Poland and is regularly repeated on television.
In addition to Poland and the GDR , the series was broadcast in the Soviet Union , Hungary , Czechoslovakia , Finland , Mongolia and Cuba .
The eight episodes of the first season were broadcast for the first time on GDR television from March to June 1968. Thereafter, these eight episodes were repeated again from September 1971 and then broadcast the 13 new episodes of the second and third season until January 1972. There were reruns in 1975 (21 episodes) and 1988 (17 episodes). Since 2011, the series has been available for the first time in a German dubbed version on DVD.

Trivia
In the 13th episode Tomasz plays the song Korobeiniki with his accordion , which later served as background music for the computer game Tetris .
