Janusz Gajos (born September 23, 1939 in Dąbrowa Górnicza ) is a Polish actor .

Life

Gajos is one of the most important theater and film actors in Poland. He received his education at the Łódź Film School . Since 1964 he played in numerous film and television productions. He achieved great popularity not least through the role of Jan "Janek" Kos in the Polish television series Four Tank Soldiers and a Dog .

In 1980 he made his first film with Andrzej Wajda : The Conductor . This film was also awarded at the Berlinale and Gajos played here alongside Sir John Gielgud and Andrzej Seweryn . A year later he played in Wajda's The Man of Iron alongside Krystyna Janda .

One of his greatest successes was the film Interrogation by Ryszard Bugajski from 1982, which, however, was initially banned and not performed until after the political changes in Poland in 1989 and the Film Festival in Cannes was excellent.

With Krzysztof Kieślowski he shot Dekalog, four from the Dekalog series of Kieślowskis and the second part of the three-color trilogy . For his role as Roman Wyskocz in Jacek Bromskis action drama To ja, złodziej (2000) he received in 2001 and 2010, the Polish Film Awards as Best Supporting Actor and 2007 for Jasminum the Polish Film Awards for Best Actor .
