Bugajski's film was banned and only saw its premiere on December 13, 1989. The premiere on the anniversary of the declaration of war in Poland had a high symbolic value after the political change that had taken place in Poland shortly before. In exile in Canada, Bugajski tried to continue his career as a director. This happened without much success. He directed several episodes of various television series for Canadian television. After interrogating a woman , he made his next film in Canada in 1991. In 1995 Bugajski returned to Poland to film and has since lived in his home country. In Poland he mainly worked for television.
