Szilárd Németh [ 'silaːrd' neːmɛt ] (born April 24, 1964 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian politician and since 2015 vice chairman of the Hungarian party Fidesz - Hungarian Citizens ' Union . He has been a member of the Hungarian Parliament (intermittently) since 2004 . From 1998 to 2010 he worked in the self-government of the Budapest district of Csepel , 2010 to 2014 as mayor.

Political career

Political activity in Csepel

In 1998 he became a member of the Csepeler self-government, in which he worked for three legislative periods (1998-2010). In 2006 he won in his constituency in Csepel, before that he only came into self-government via the Fidesz list. From 2002 to 2009 he was the group leader of Fidesz in the self-government. In 2010 he became mayor of the district.

Work in parliament

In 2004 he became a member of the Hungarian Parliament for the first time. He moved up (until the 2006 parliamentary elections ) to Csaba Őry , who was elected to the European Parliament . In 2009 he continued the work of Tamás Deutsch , who also moved to the European Parliament. In the 2010 parliamentary elections , he won the direct mandate in Csepel for the first time for Fidesz. From 2013 he was the government commissioner for the so-called "director's cut", the aim of which was to radically cut ancillary costs such as gas and electricity. In the parliamentary elections in 2014 , he could not win his constituency; he entered parliament through Fidesz's country list.

Campaign against the so-called "Soros Plan"

In 2017, Fidesz launched a campaign against US billionaire George Soros , who was of Hungarian descent , believing that he would promote immigration through financial support. Németh was in charge of the campaign alongside Viktor Orbán . In the media and in parliament he takes a combative point of view; once he suspected Soros and his civil organizations of being responsible for a metro failure in Budapest. He wants to push back and ban those Hungarian non-governmental civil organizations that are funded by Soros.
