The Szubieniczna Góra (also Hyclowa Góra , German Galgenberg ) is a 55 meter high elevation in Gdansk in Poland . It is located in the districts of Wrzeszcz Górny ( Langfuhr ) and Aniołki ( All Angels ).
history
A gallows is documented on the Galgenberg for the years 1529 to 1804. This was then torn down. The last execution took place here in 1838 with the ax.
In 1914 a crematorium with an associated urn cemetery was built here. After 1945 this became today's Park im. Traugutta redesigned (1.3 ha). Today the Church of St. Nicholas ( Cerkiew św. Mikołaja ), the Orthodox church of the city of Gdańsk, stands in part of the cemetery .
More graves were later dug on the mountain, they fell victim to looting and are still neglected today.
