Téhem (born January 16, 1969 in Charenton-le-Pont ), actually Thierry Maunier , is a French comic book author and illustrator . He is best known for his Malika Secouss comic series .

Life

Téhem was born to parents from Réunion in a Paris suburb. At the age of five he moved with his family to the island of Réunion , which he left at the age of 15 to finish his art studies.

He became a teacher of plastic arts and finally found a job on Réunion at the Collège de Bras-Panon . After a few years in this profession, Téhem now devotes himself exclusively to comics.

During his studies he was already working for the comic magazine Le Cri du Margouillat and published four volumes of the Tiburce series , which was also published in Réunion Creole . He became known, however, with the comics about Malika Secouss , which deal critically and humorously with the problems in the banlieus.

In 2001 the first album by Zap Collège was published by Glénat . At the comic festival in Angoulême in 2003, this band was also awarded the Alph-Art du meilleur album jeunesse 9-12 ans award.

In 2006 he supported the Pas d'éducation, pas d'avenir campaign , which advocates better education, with various posters.

In Germany, Téhem was best known for the Spirou and Fantasio special album A Big Head , on which he worked with Pierre Makyo and Toldac .
