The Tążyna (German: Tonzyna ) is a left-hand tributary of the Vistula in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . Its length is 49.8 kilometers, the catchment area covers an area of 495.8 km².

Location and course

The Tążyna rises in a wetland (Błoto Ostrowskie) east of Droga krajowa 15 in the northeast of the city of Inowrocław (German at times Hohensalza). It initially runs as the Parchański Canal in a southerly direction past the village of Parchanie, then turns to the east and takes the name Tążyna at Brudnia. East of the village of Wilkostowo it turns north, then flows around the town of Aleksandrów Kujawski in a wide arc and flows a few kilometers further east at the village of Otłoczyn below Ciechocinek into the Vistula.

A tributary of the Tążyna is the Mała Tążyna with a length of around 21 kilometers.

Until 1919 the lower reaches of the Tążyna formed the border between Prussia ( Posen Province ) and the Russian part of Poland since 1815.
