The company Tōsō KK ( Japanese 東 ソ ー 株式会社 , Tōsō Kabushiki kaisha , English Tosoh Corporation ) is a multinational Japanese chemical company headquartered in Tokyo .
history
The company was founded on February 11, 1935 as Tōyō Sōda Kōgyō KK ( 東洋 曹 達 工業 株式会社 , dt. "Far Eastern Soda Industry AG"). The company's name was changed to Tosoh Corporation in 1987.
Originally the company mainly produced chlor-alkali chemicals such as chlorine , vinyl chloride , sodium hydroxide and calcium hypochlorite .
The first factory was built on the coast at Shūnan in Yamaguchi Prefecture and is still the main manufacturing base of Tosoh Corporation. Production at this factory, the Nanyo Complex , began in 1935. Today it is one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Japan. The site covers more than 3.7 million square meters with its own port and power station.
2007 has European Commission against the companies Bayer , Denka , DuPont , Dow Chemical , Eni and Tosoh imposed a total fine of 243.2 million euros, because they adhere to a chloroprene rubber - cartel participated. Tosoh had to pay a fine of 4.8 million euros.
Tosoh Corporation is now a global corporation listed on the Japanese stock exchange in the Nikkei 225 index. Tosoh Corporation comprises more than 100 companies worldwide with more than 11,500 employees. The product range has been continuously expanded, from fine chemicals, scientific equipment, coatings to quartz glass , zirconia and zeolites ( HSZ from English High Silica Zeolite ).
Products
With a capacity of 71,000 t, Tosoh is one of the world's largest manufacturers of ethylene amines (e.g. DETA , EDA ) and the largest manufacturer of electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD). A methacrylate - ethylene glycol copolymer ( Toyopearl ) is produced for biochemistry .
The subsidiary Rin Kagaku Kogyo produces phosphorus flame retardants .
