The T-100 ( Russian Т-100 ) is a Soviet chain tractor , which was produced from 1963 in the Tscheljabinski Traktorny Sawod (Eng. Tscheljabinsk Tractor Plant, abbreviated ЧТЗ or TschTS). More than 400,000 copies of the vehicle, which is often used as a bulldozer , were built in various versions, some of which also came to the GDR .

Production of the T-100, referred to as a tractor by the manufacturer, began in 1963. A year later, production of the predecessor S-100 was discontinued. What was particularly new was that the large-volume four-cylinder diesel engine now developed 79 kW (108 hp) instead of the previous 74 kW (100 hp). In addition, some of the vehicles now have hydraulics . Systems were installed at the rear as well as at the front, depending on the future application of the tractor. By 1975, 278,101 vehicles of the first generation had been built.

In 1973 there was a revision. The basic version, now called the T-100MS, took over various technical elements of the larger successor T-130 , which was mass-produced from 1969. This also served to reduce the need to manufacture different technical components. Various control elements in the driver's cab as well as the steering and braking system were affected.

Series production of the revised versions was stopped in 1983. From this point on, only the larger T-130 was built. In the period from 1973 to 1983 134,044 T-100MS were manufactured, with a total of 412,145 T-100s being built in Chelyabinsk . The T-100 was exported to various countries, including the German Democratic Republic . Various copies have been preserved in Germany. Occasional vehicles came as far as Central America.

Model variants

In 20 years of production, different versions of the T-100 have rolled off the production line. The list below is not exhaustive, but is intended to provide an overview.

  • T-100M - basic version, built from 1964 to 1975. Without hydraulic equipment. With the sliding shield installed, it was adjusted using a cable pull.
  • T-100MB - model with widened chains and revised diesel engine D-108B.
  • T-100MGP - version with front hydraulics for operation as a bulldozer .
  • T-100MGS - With rear hydraulics, for use in agriculture.
  • T-100MBGT and T-100MBGS - Agricultural versions with additional front hydraulics for dozer blades. In addition, wider crawlers were installed.
  • T-100MS - basic version built from 1973. Various components were designed identically to the successor T-130.
  • T-100MSB - Like the T-100MB, equipped with wider chains for particularly swampy soils, but is already based on the T-100MS.
  • T-100MSGP - Revised version with front hydraulics, similar to the T-100MGP.
