T. Carmi

T. Carmi (born December 31, 1925 in New York City as Carmi Charny , † November 20, 1994 in Jerusalem ) was an Israeli poet .

biography

Born in New York City, Carmi grew up in a Hebrew- speaking family. He studied at Yeshiva and Columbia University and moved to Israel in 1947. Carmi published his own poems and also translated works by Shakespeare and Hebrew poems. He was a professor at the Jerusalem University.
