The Timothy Thomas Fortune House (also known as T. Thomas Fortune House , The Bergen House or Maple Hall ) is a historic house in Red Bank , in Monmouth County , in the US state of New Jersey , in the United States . It is located at number 94 on West Bergen Place .

The house was the home of slave-born journalist Timothy Thomas Fortune . As the editor of three newspapers, he used the opportunity to take action against corrupt politicians, slavery and the suppression of women's rights. He has written over 20 books and over 300 editorials in his newspapers during the course of his career. He lived here from 1901 to 1915.

The Victorian building was completed in 1901, and according to the National Register of Historic Places, it had historical relevance from 1900 to 1924, with 1901 and 1915 as specific years.

The T. Thomas Fortune House was listed as a Historic Monument on December 8, 1976 by the National Register of Historic Places under number 76001171. In addition, it received an entry in the National Historic Landmark .
