The TC FIKO Rostock is a registered sports club from the Hanseatic city of Rostock . It is the largest triathlon club in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association and a member of the German Triathlon Union .

Competitions

The association organizes three competitions a year. The season opens in June in Papendorf , a village near Rostock, with the “Papendorfer Triathlon”. At the end of summer, the historic “Rostocker Triathlon” will be held in Warnemünde in the Alter Strom and on the promenade of the Baltic Sea resort . At the end of the triathlon season, the “Children's Swim & Run” has been organized in the Neptun swimming pool for young athletes since 2009 .

The association was founded in 1981 as a department of SG FIKO Rostock . Just two years later, in 1983, the 1st Rostock Triathlon was organized as the first triathlon competition in the GDR . 41 athletes started.

Well-known athletes

Many well-known athletes have emerged from the performance-oriented training of the triathlon club since it was founded. These include the two-time Olympic participant in the short distance and vice world champion in the long distance of the Ironman Hawaii in 2010, Andreas Raelert . Christiane Pilz , who became German triathlon champion on the Olympic distance at Schliersee in 2009, is also a two-time Olympic participant . The German champion on the short distance from Schliersee 2008, Michael Raelert , is two-time world champion of the 70.3 Ironman series after 2009 and 2010 , which he won in Clearwater. Both Raelert brothers are currently starting for TG TriZack Rostock. Tom Gröschel , German marathon champion 2018 and 2019 .
