The gymnastics community Saar (short: TG Saar ) is a German gymnastics community from the Saarland , which consists largely of gymnastics clubs from the Saarlouis district . She does gymnastics in the 1st Bundesliga and competes in Dillingen / Saar .

history

TG Saar was founded in 1974. Two years later, the TG was doing gymnastics in the 1st Bundesliga for the first time. In 1978, with third place, she achieved first place among the top three German gymnastics clubs. The TG Saar became German runner-up in 1980, before winning the championship in both 1981 and 1982. Further top placings were the fourth place that the TG achieved in 1984 and 1985. In 1990 the team finished eighth in the now single-track Bundesliga, which had previously been played in a northern and a southern relay, and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga. It was not until 1997 that they were promoted to the first division again, with the three-time Olympic champion Sergei Charkow , who trained for the TG from 1994 to 2006 , in the squad . In 2007 the TG Saar became runner-up for the second time and repeated this success again in 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. In 2012, the TG Saar won the third championship title. The 2012 championship team included Anton Fokin and Eugen Spiridonov . In addition to Spiridonov, the current team also includes Lukas Dauser , Nikita Nagorny and Olympic champion Oleh Vernyayev .

In 2013 and 2017 the TG Saar was voted Saarland Team of the Year .
