history

In 1973 Erhard Schäfer and Norbert Köhler founded the company as "Köhler + Schäfer Elektronik GbR". In the era of the rotary dial , the TELE MAGIC 14 automatic dialer was so popular that in 1977 the company moved into a new company building at Halskestrasse 14 in Ratingen. In 1983, Tiptel established itself as a leading manufacturer of answering machines - a position that still exists today and has been expanded to include call managers and voicemail systems. The company was converted into a corporation in 1985, Tiptel Elektronik GmbH.

In 1986 production was switched to fully automatic assembly. SMD (Surface Mounted Device) assembly lines have been in use since 1992 and were expanded in 1997. This also made the contract manufacturing of electronic devices and assemblies possible. In 1991 Titpel GmbH became a stock corporation . The laying of the foundation stone for the new plant and today's company headquarters at Halskestrasse 1 in Ratingen followed in 1992. In the same year, the product range was expanded to include cordless telephones, convenience telephones and private branch exchanges. The introduction of the first ISDN telephone system, the ISDN telephones and the Tiptel radio alarm system could be announced in 1996. In 1997, Tiptel took over the telecommunications division of Hagenuk and got into such great difficulties that properties at the headquarters in Ratingen had to be sold. In 1999 the acquisition was sold again.

In 2000, the company entered the Voice over IP sector through a cooperation with innovaphone , which develops the hardware and software for the new technology. The first telephone system with ADSL router and wireless LAN was presented in 2003. At that time, around 280 people were working for the company, around 85% of them in Germany. An extensive restructuring of the company began in August 2005. Erhard Schäfer, the co-founder and chairman of the supervisory board, initially acquired 49% of the Dutch subsidiary Tiptel bv as managing director of Robinco Treuhand GmbH & Co. Beteiligungs KG and the remaining 51% in October 2006; In November 2006, Tiptel bv in turn bought the French subsidiary Tiptel sarl and the Belgian subsidiary Tiptel NV / SA .

On March 30, 2007, together with the subsidiary Deutsche Fernsprecher Gesellschaft (DFG), founded in 1914 and based in Marburg, the application for insolvency due to imminent insolvency (DFG due to overindebtedness) was filed with the Düsseldorf District Court. On April 5, 2007, Jürgen Taplick, who previously died in 2014, was appointed sole director by the supervisory board. On September 1st, Tiptel.com GmbH Business Solutions took over 36 employees, the brands and the two subsidiaries in Austria and Switzerland from TIPTEL AG; Coronex Electronic GmbH took over 68 employees . Both companies also took over parts of the tangible and current assets and had Erhard Schäfer as sole managing director. They are both based in Ratingen. In November 2007 Jürgen Taplick (1960–2014) were appointed as additional managing director of Tiptel.com GmbH and Hans-Willi Langenkamp as additional managing director of Coronex Electronic GmbH . In January 2009, DFG Ergophone GmbH moved its headquarters from Ratingen to Marburg and replaced Deutsche Fernsprecher GmbH . Its sole managing director is Erhard Schäfer.

The Tiptel.com GmbH specializes in the development, marketing and sales of information technology and telecommunications solutions, while the Coronex Electronic GmbH produces as a contract manufacturer of electronic devices and services in support, service and logistics yields. The Coronex Electronic GmbH operates, among others, four assembly lines for surface mounted devices (SMD) .
