The TSV 1846 Butzbach is a sports club founded in 1846 from the Hessian city of Butzbach . According to its own information, it has around 2000 members in the basketball , handball , table tennis , gymnastics and volleyball departments .
Handball
The TSV is known nationwide for its handball department, whose men's team rose to the top of the table in the Regionalliga Südwest at the end of the 1972/73 season and after winning the decider against SC Borussia 04 Fulda with the same number of points in the handball Bundesliga at 15:13 . After the TSV reached seventh place in the southern season in the first season , relegation to the regional league followed at the end of the 1974/75 season as bottom of the table .
From 1921 to 1996 there was an athletics department.
