The gymnastics and sports club Freudenstadt 1862 eV , TSV Freudenstadt for short, is a sports club of the city of Freudenstadt . According to its own statements, the multi-discipline club is the largest sports club in the city with around 1,400 members.

history

Under the secondary school teacher Munz, the Freudenstadt gymnastics club was founded in May 1862 (which was only renamed to the Gymnastics and Sports Club 1862 Freudenstadt eV in 1950). In August of the year in which it was founded, youth support began, and in 1898 a women's team was founded.

Little by little, other departments were founded, for example athletics, the fencing division, which no longer existed, or the swimming department.

For the hundredth anniversary of the club, a sports city competition was held for the first time between Freudenstadt and the twin town Courbevoie . This event still takes place alternately in both cities.

In 1968, the long jumper Reinhold Boschert , an athlete from TSV Freudenstadt, took part in the Olympic Games for the first time. Sandra Mast started in the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.

In 2012 the association celebrated its 150th anniversary with a variety of activities and events.

Departments

Numerous departments are organized under the umbrella of TSV Freudenstadt, including badminton, basketball, disabled and rehab sports, health sports, gymnastics, handball, judo, athletics, swimming, dance sports, table tennis, gymnastics and volleyball.

BRSG handicapped and rehabilitation sports group

The BRSG, founded in 1952, can boast great successes. Shot putter Sandra Mast took part in the 2012 Paralympics in London and came in 6th. In 2011 she became vice world champion.

Judo

Manfred Heilig founded the department in 1965 and thus introduced judo in the district. Right from the start, Judo was one of the largest departments at TSV Freudenstadt. The department sends athletes except for German championships.

athletics

The athletics department founded in 1927 is one of the oldest departments in TSV Freudenstadt. The greatest success was Reinhold Boschert's participation in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. The shot putter Petra Lammert began her athletic career here. Athletes in the department are still going up to German championships.
