The TSV Maccabi München eV is a German-Jewish sports club in Munich . It was founded in 1965 by survivors of the Holocaust .

The club's coat of arms is the star of David in the execution of the Maccabi movement, whose aim is to promote the awareness of Jewish youth for religious, cultural and national values. The term Maccabi is derived from the name of a priestly family, the Maccabees , whose members are viewed as freedom fighters.

Maccabi Munich is organized with around 750 active members in the umbrella organization Makkabi Germany , which in turn is a member of the Maccabi World Union . This offers members an international network of contacts in over 50 countries and 400,000 members. The club receives supraregional importance and resonance through its active reconciliation work, for example through participation in the DFB exhibition "Kicker, Fighters, Legends - Jews in German Football" and tournaments with corresponding media coverage and prominent participants. The association organizes the Kurt Landauer tournament , which takes place annually on July 28th . Landauer was a Jew and president of FC Bayern Munich .

The association has its headquarters at Riemer Strasse 300 in Munich, another training facility is the sports hall of the Jewish Center in downtown Munich . Football , boxing , gymnastics , tennis , table tennis , hip hop and karate are all on offer .

The first men's team in the soccer department has played in the B-class of the Munich district since 2005. The sports field bears the name of Kurt Landauer.
