TT 5 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TT 5 (also generic Class 5 or Class 5 ) is a main class of the Paralympic sports for athletes in table tennis .

The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

“The player has trunk control, the trunk can be consciously tilted forward and straightened in the sagittal plane without the help of the free arm. Significant pushing movements with the thighs or even the feet are possible. The handling of the wheelchair is optimal due to the good positioning of the trunk forwards and backwards. Some lateral movements are possible. "

The class division indicates the degree of functional physical disability of an athlete that is relevant for table tennis competitions . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 1–5 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 6–11 standing.
