TT 8 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TT 8 (also generic Class 8 or Class 8 ) is a main class of the Paralympic sports for athletes in table tennis .

The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

  • amputees unilaterally above the knee, or
  • Amputee on both sides below the knee, or
  • severe disabilities in one or both lower extremities - with poor dynamic balance, or
  • moderate disabilities in the legs and slight disabilities in the play arm.

The class division indicates the degree of functional physical disability of an athlete that is relevant for table tennis competitions . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 1–5 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 6–11 standing.
