TT 9 (Paralympics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TT 9 (also generically Class 9 or Class 9 ) is a starting class of the Paralympic sports for athletes in table tennis .

The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

  • Players amputated on one side below the knee, or
  • mild impairment of the legs, or
  • slight disabilities in the legs and slight disabilities in the play arm, or
  • severe impairment of the non-play arm.

The class division indicates the degree of functional physical disability of an athlete that is relevant for table tennis competitions . Low class numbers indicate a higher level of impairment than high class numbers. Athletes with class numbers 1–5 start sitting (wheelchair), athletes with class numbers 6–11 standing.
