Ta (vizier)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ta was an ancient Egyptian vizier under Ramses III. who initially only headed the Upper Egyptian administration in Thebes .

Nothing is known about the Ta’s family and origin. The oldest inscription that names him as the reigning vizier comes from the year 12 by Ramses III. and can be found in the Maat Temple of Karnak . He was probably the successor of Hori , who was until the tenth year of Ramses III's reign. officiated. Ta is often mentioned as the responsible vizier in texts from the workers' settlement Deir el-Medina . There he led inspections, supervised the work on the royal tomb and was responsible for supplying the craftsmen. In the year 29, Ta often appears in connection with the great Deir el-Medineh strike . A letter addressed to the vizier reports supply problems in the craftsmen's settlement. In the same year he was promoted to vizier of Upper and Lower Egypt and the division of the vizier was temporarily canceled. During the strike, Ta travels to Upper Egypt to get images of gods for the king's Sedfest , but before the execution of the work, she is accused of blocking supplies.

The Ta’s term of office cannot be determined with certainty. After the year 29 there are no more inscriptions. Probably he passed away with the death of Ramses III. out of office, since his successor Neferrenpet II is only occupied from the first year of Ramses IV's reign .
