Good is the year

Neferrenpet was an ancient Egyptian vizier of the 20th Dynasty ( New Kingdom ). He served under Ramses IV until at least the reign of Ramses VI.

Dating

His name is first recorded in year 1 by Ramses IV. He was the successor of the vizier Ta , who was last in the year 29 by Ramses III. is attested. According to Peden, it is not completely certain whether he, like his predecessor, was vizier of both parts of the country, at least he moved into his official residence under Ramses IV in Memphis .

Apparently, at the same time as Ramses IV took office, some positions in the administration were also exchanged. It is uncertain how long Neferrenpet actually stayed in office. Apparently then dressed under Ramses VI. Nehi and Ramsesnacht, as well as in the year 14 of Ramses IX. finally Nebmaatrenacht the vizier.

supporting documents

Unfortunately there are only a few monuments of Neferrenpet. Only a red granite statue comes from the reign of Ramses IV . For this he is attested all the more often on ostracas , papyri and graffiti from Deir el-Medina , where he often paid visits. The vizier had also been the construction manager of the royal tomb since the Ramesside period and played a decisive role in the planning process.

Official acts

Accordingly, he visited the workers' place for the first time on the 28th  Achet  I in the year 1 of Ramses IV to hand over silver to the workers. It was a firm custom to give gifts when taking office, on the one hand to ensure conscientious work and on the other hand to remind the grave workers that they depended on the supply of the state.

A second visit took place on 17th and 18th Achet II in year 2 to look for a suitable place for the royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings . Over a month later, he and other dignitaries returned to the Valley of the Kings to double the tomb's workforce to 120 men. In the following year (10th Achet IV) there was a complaint against Neferrenpet and some high officials about the failure of wages to be paid. On the 10th of Achet IV in the year 4 he returned to Thebes-West with the high priest of Amun Ramsesnacht . On the 7th Achet IV in the year 5 he made a plan for the royal tomb , probably because of a plan change for the rear rooms. On the 26th of  Peret  IV of the same year, he took part in a libation of an indefinite ceremony .

Frequent visits to Deir el-Medina followed in the 6th year. B. an inspection of the work on the 16th  Schemu  III, as well as visits on the 9th and 10th Achet I. Two days later he appeared with the royal cupbearer Sethiherwenemef to inspect the work on the royal tomb , which at this time was already in one advanced condition. The last visit of the year and in the reign of Ramses IV took place on the 19th of Peret I.
