history

Since it was first mentioned in 1369, the village and a hamlet called "Neunhöfe" were a separate municipality. In 1899 there was a village fire during a procession that destroyed 70% of the houses. Thanks to generous donations, Tabland could be rebuilt. In 1928 Tabland fell to the market town of Naturns . The Tablands church belonged to Tschars until 1987, after which a separate parish was established. In the 1980s, many people moved away because of the lack of infrastructure. The number of residents and students dropped dramatically. At the turn of the millennium, Tabland only had 200 inhabitants. For several years the community has been trying to revive the village. In the summer of 2010, the former rectory was converted into a multi-purpose house. A building was also built in which a shop can be located.

Public buildings

There is a primary school with a multi-purpose hall and some rooms for choirs etc.

St. Nicholas

The Tabland Church is dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra and dates back at least to 1369 (first mentioned). The tower and the nave walls, however, date from the Romanesque period. In 1493, in late Gothic times, the choir and the pointed arch portal were added. The church was later redesigned in baroque style. After the village fire it was renewed. The winged altar from the workshop of Hans Schnatterpeck is well worth seeing .
