Tacora is the name of the 5980 m high volcanic mountain in northern Chile . It is located in the Arica y Parinacota region about 50 km north of Putre .
It is located in close proximity to the northern mountain Chupiquiña in Peru , the peaks are about five kilometers apart. There are sulfur mines in the saddle between the two volcanic mountains . There are hot springs east of the Tacora.
