Tagtraum was a punk band from Schweinfurt that emerged from the band Untergang .

history

The band was formed in December 1992 and decided to split up in 2006. It was seen for the last time on May 20, 2006 at the farewell concert at the Stadtbahnhof in Schweinfurt. On March 17, 2017, Tagtraum played with the original cast for a one-time concert as part of Matze Rossi's birthday gala in the Schweinfurt city station. The band emphasized that this was not a reunion, but really a one-time thing.

The individual band members continue to play in other formations: Tobias Götz and Bernhard Schmidt with Phonogam , David Gruber and Jörg Holdinghausen with Boink, Jörg Holdinghausen with Tele and Wir sind Helden , Matthias Nürnberger as solo artist Senore Matze Rossi and together with Tobias Götz with the bands Gaston and Signals to Aircraft .

style

In general, Daydream is often referred to as a pop-punk band and not a full-fledged punk band, from which they also distance themselves significantly. The same applies to the term German punk , which is attributed to daydream primarily because of its German-language texts.

On pieces from the band's early days, however, “punk” tendencies can be recognized both musically and occasionally in terms of content. Over time, however, influences from the alternative American music scene became more important, the style became more variable, calmer and more melancholy.

Tagtraum is often compared with the German Muff Potter or the American At the Drive-In and Alkaline Trio .

Thematically, Tagtraum deals with society, interpersonal relationships and feelings in general, wrapped up in little stories from everyday life. In the beginning, melancholy, world and soul pain played an important role, which in the course of time have given way to a positive worldview.

Musically, Tagtraum packs this into a synthesis of the intensity of high-speed and mid-tempo punk rock as well as calm and melodic passages.
