Tahara house in Allersheim

The Tahara House in Allersheim , a district of the market town of Giebelstadt in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg , was built in 1927/28. The Tahara house in the Jewish cemetery is a protected architectural monument .

The Bayerische Israelitische Gemeindezeitung wrote on April 1, 1929: “Inauguration of the newly built cemetery house in Allersheim. (...) An impressive celebration took place on January 20th, 1929 in this venerable cemetery. It was for the takeover of the newly built cemetery house, which includes the room for performing the Tacharah and the hall for holding the funeral services and for the gathering of the funeral suite. It is a simple, but functional and beautiful building in its simplicity. The initiative for the construction of the building came from the board of directors of the Israelitische Friedhofs-Korporation Allersheim, Mr. Vitus Weikersheimer in Gaukönigshofen. He worked tirelessly to keep private and public donors interested until funding was secured. In addition to the willingness to sacrifice around 100 private donors and a permit from the Baden Upper Council , the provision of the funds is primarily due to the benevolent support of the Association of Bavarian Israelite Communities, which made the construction possible through a larger subsidy and an interest-free loan. (...) In addition to the representatives and numerous members of the parishes involved, a large number of Christian citizens from the surrounding villages also appeared - proof of the harmonious coexistence of the denominations in our area. A welcoming letter had also arrived from the district office in Ochsenfurt. "
