Tahereh Mafi (born November 9, 1988 ) is an American writer for young people .

Life

Mafi was born in 1988 in a small town in Connecticut . She is of Iranian descent and the youngest of five siblings alongside four older brothers.

In 2011 Mafi published her debut Shatter Me (German title: Ich afraid not ), the first part of a dystopian novel trilogy about a girl with supernatural abilities. The second volume followed in 2013, Unravel Me (German title: Rette mich vor dir ) and in 2014 the third volume, Ignite Me (German title: Ich brenne für dich ). The trilogy can be assigned to the genre Romantasy .

Her books Mafi was on the best-seller lists of the New York Times and USA Today represented.

In August 2015, Mafi announced that their Shatter Me trilogy would be filmed as a television series.

The author has been married to filmmaker and writer Ransom Riggs since 2013 . The couple live in Santa Monica , California .
