The Tajo-railway bridge , officially the Viaducto del río Tajo is a concrete - arch bridge in the Spanish section of the proposed high-speed railway Lisbon-Madrid .

location

The structure stands near Cáceres , Extremadura and bridges the Tajo or the arm of the Alcántara reservoir in which the river rises. The double-decker bridge for the N-630 and the railroad is about 540 m to the west . About 2.8 km to the east are the two arches of the Puente Arcos de Alconétar , the motorway bridge of the A-66 .

description

The two-track, a total of 1,488 m long railway bridge consists of a reinforced concrete arch with a span of 324 m and a superstructure of an elevated pre-stressed concrete - concrete box . It is driven at up to 350 km / h.

The Tajo Railway Bridge is, after the nearby Almonte Railway Bridge on the same route, one of the largest railway concrete arch bridges in Europe, the only one in the People's Republic of China that is different from the Qinglong Railway Bridge over the Beipan Jiang in the Guizhou Province and the Qiubei- Nanpanjiang Bridge in Yunnan to be surpassed.

It was designed by Carlos Fernández Casado, SL and executed by the COPISA-COPASA joint venture . It had to be taken into account that the reservoir was not allowed to be impaired by the construction work or the completed bridge. The large arch therefore had to be built outside the reservoir and cantilevered with auxiliary anchoring and rotating tower cranes on the arch sections. The roadway girder was built from both sides with telescopic armor .

The reinforced concrete arch is a hollow box having dimensions of 6.0 m width and 3.5 m in height at the apex to 12.0 m width and 4.0 m in height at the fighters increases. Its corners have been flattened for aerodynamic reasons.

The length of the bridge of 1488 m is divided into the following fields: 45 + 9 × 60 + 57 + 324 + 57 + 7 × 60 + 45 m. The distance between the stands on the arch is also 60 m.

The track support consists of a unicellular prestressed - hollow box with a constant height of 3.9 m and a 5.0 m wide bottom plate. The carriageway slab is 14 m wide, of which 10.1 m are accounted for by the two tracks, 0.2 m for the ballast retaining walls and 1.7 m for the sidewalks on both sides.
