Takargo Rail SA , mostly just Takargo , is a Portuguese railway company founded in September 2006 by the Mota Engil group. Together with COMSA , the company operates three freight transport lines between Portugal and Spain under the name Ibercargo Rail SA ; It is also the first private company in Portugal to operate commercial goods transport alongside the state-owned Comboios de Portugal .

Takargo Rail, part of the Mota Engil Group, was founded in September 2006 after the liberalization of the Portuguese rail transport market. In 2008 the company started its first freight traffic. Takargo currently operates three regular routes; Saragossa - Lisbon , Madrid - Lisbon and Entroncamento - Tarragona (- Barcelona ).

Takargo acquired 18 Vossloh Euro 4000 locomotives for cross-border freight transport . In Portugal these are referred to as the 6000 series, in Spain the 335 series. It also has two 1400 series locomotives and 146 freight cars acquired from CP .

In 2007 Takargo generated sales of 0.4 million euros, in 2008 6.3 million euros, and in 2009 14.8 million euros.
