Takashima ( Japanese 高 島 町 , - chō ) was an independent small town in the district of Nishisonogi , Nagasaki Prefecture , until 2005 . It consisted of the islands of Takashima and Hashima off the coast near the city of Nagasaki .
On January 4, 2005, the city of Takashima, together with Iōjima , Kōyagi , Nomozaki , Sanwa and Sotome - all from Nishisonogi County - incorporated into Nagasaki.
In 2003 the city had an area of about 1.34 km² and about 790 inhabitants.
