Takeda Taijun

Takeda Taijun ( Japanese 武田 泰 淳 ; born February 12, 1912 in Tokyo ; † October 5, 1976 ) was a Japanese writer.

The son of a Buddhist monk began studying Sinology at the University of Tokyo in 1932 , but had to drop out because of political activities that resulted in him being arrested. In 1934 he founded the magazine Chūgoku Bungaku for Chinese studies with other sinologists . In 1937 he was drafted into the army and came to Shanghai. Two years later he returned to Japan and published the novel Shiba Sen about the Chinese historian Sima Qian here in 1943 . From 1944 to 1946 he headed the Sino-Japanese Cultural Society in Shanghai. From 1947 he taught at the University of Hokkaidō for a year , after which he lived as a freelance writer. In 1973 he received the Grand Prize for Japanese Literature for the novel Kairaku , and in 1976 the Noma Literature Prize for Memai no suru sanpo . In addition to novels, he also published several volumes of essays. Some of his works have been a. Filmed by Uchida Tomu and Nagisa Ōshima .
