Taketoshi Igarashi

Taketoshi Igarashi ( Japanese 五十 嵐 武 要 , Igarashi Taketoshi ; * around 1930) is a Japanese jazz musician ( drums ).

Taketoshi Igarashi played in the Tokyo jszz scene from the 1950s; in the summer of 1954 he was involved in the sessions at the Mocambo jazz club, which also included Akira Watanabe , Sadao Watanabe , Akira Miyazawa , Shotaro Moriyasu and Hisao Suzuki . In the following years he worked with Eiji Kitamura , Masanaga Harada , in the 70s to 90s with Kauzuo Yashiro , Martha Miyake , Teddy Wilson ( Groovin ' , 1973), Shungo Sawada , Ichiro Masuda / Hank Jones ( The Song Is Ended , 1976 ), Satoru Oda , Toshio Oida , Mitsuru Ono , Hidehiko Matsumoto , Ushio Sakai and most recently with the pianist Hiroshi Tamura ( Cole Porter Song Book ). With his brother, the alto saxophonist Akitoshi Igarashi , he leads the band The Bunrakutei .

In the field of jazz he was involved in 31 recording sessions between 1954 and 1995.
