Tala is a city in Uruguay .
geography
Tala is located in the Cuchilla Pérez in the northeast of the Canelones department in sector 10 . About 15 kilometers to the northwest is San Ramon . The Tala, which is located on a small hill, is bordered by the Arroyo del Tala , which runs on the southern outskirts, and the Arroyito Macana , which flows north , and both meet at the western end of the city.
history
Tala, which at least at the beginning of the 20th century was also known as Salvador , was founded by Ildefonso de León in 1869. Like Lorenzo Laporte, Juan Turreiro and Bernardo Apestegui, this was one of the first inhabitants.

education
With the Liceo de Tala "José Alonso y Trelles" founded in 1964, Tala has a secondary school ( Liceo ).
Culture
In Tala there is the Parroquia del Santísimo Salvador, inaugurated in 1863, a Roman-style church. It was built on an area made available by the city founder Ildefonso de León opposite the main square of the town by the two Italian builders José and Martín Ceriani.
In Tala lived and worked from 1877 on under the pseudonym El Viejo Pancho, poet, writer and member of the Partido Nacional José María Alonso y Trelles (1857-1924). His property, the Casa y Predio de José Alonso y Trelles "El Viejo Pancho" , is located around 300 meters from the main square Talas. This last residence of Alonso y Trelles was granted the status of Monumento Histórico Nacional on March 22, 1988 .
The Banda Municipal de Tala orchestra , which was founded on November 9, 1910 and whose first director was Carlos Romagnoli , has an important symbolic function for the city.
