Talja Blokland

Talja V. Blokland (* 1971 ) is a Dutch-German sociologist and urban researcher. Since February 1, 2009, she has held the professorship for urban and regional sociology at the Humboldt University in Berlin as the successor to Hartmut Häußermann . Before coming to Berlin, she researched and worked at Yale University , the University of Manchester and the Delft University of Technology, among others .

Her work focuses on social theory, relational theory, urban sociology and social policy. Within urban research, her focus is on urban inequality and marginalization processes. She also researches place-making processes, neighborhood change and cohesion, as well as the impact of these processes on the sense of security of city dwellers.
