Talk to Me is an R&B song written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds . The title was released with Eric Clapton as guitarist on October 29, 1996 on the album The Day . A live interpretation, also with Clapton on guitar, appeared on the 1997 album MTV Unplugged NYC 1997 .

During the 1997 video recording of MTV Unplugged NYC , Edmonds explains how the song came about: “We wrote this song while we were working on Change the World . He [Eric Clapton] played the guitar and I smelled bones and grits and greens and things. And so we developed the song Talk to me . "(" This is a song that I was working on when we worked together on Change the World . He started playing guitar and I started smelling neck bone, grits and greens and things. So we did this song called Talk to Me . ")
