Reception and criticism
Allmusic music website critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine noted that it was interesting for individuals but, by and large, a disappointingly humble album. Overall, Erlewine awarded three of the five possible rating units for the album. Entertainment Weekly critics took negative lines on the album, adding that two stars, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder, are saving the very electric set. Jon Parles of the New York Times praised the album. Elysa Garnder from the Los Angeles Times awarded the live album three out of four stars.
