Shanice Lorraine Wilson (born May 14, 1973 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is a Grammy- nominated American R&B singer . She is usually referred to just as "Shanice". Her single I Love Your Smile became her biggest hit in late 1991. She also had five other Billboard Hot 100 singles such as Saving Forever You in the fall of 1992.

life and career

Born and raised in Pittsburgh , Shanice Wilson starred in an advertisement for Kentucky Fried Chicken with Ella Fitzgerald when she was eight . In 1983 Shanice took part in the new American television show Star Search . She won this talent show at the age of ten. Then A&M Records became aware of her and she received a recording contract . Her first solo album Discovery was released in 1987 by the record label. It was not a big hit, but made her known and earned her a nomination for best newcomer on "Soul Train", which did not lead to an award. In 1991 she signed a recording deal with Motown Records . The album Inner Child , which was released in the fall of the same year, included her hit I Love Your Smile as well as a cover version of Minnie Riperton's hit Loving You . This song, and others like Fly Away, brought out her skills in coloratura soprano . In 1993 she played a guest role on the television sitcom All Under One Roof .

After I Love Your Smile , Shanice recorded other albums such as 21… Ways to Grow (1994). Although she did not have the same success with her later albums, she is recognized as a talented singer and her songs have appeared on many soundtracks . She is also a background singer for various artists : Among other things, she sang the upper choir part on Toni Braxton's hit Unbreak My Heart (1996).

On February 14, 2000, Shanice married the actor and comedian Flex Alexander , with whom she has two children.

The first single from the album Every Woman Dreams was released in June 2005, the album itself was released on February 21, 2006. 6000 copies were sold in the first week. The album was released under their own record label Imajah , which was named after their children.

The song Undecided (2019) by Chris Brown contains a sampling from her song I Love Your Smile .
