Talschilling (after the old Austrian currency unit Schilling before the introduction of the euro ) describes the compensation that illwerke vkw AG pays to the Paznaun in order to divert water from the Paznaun brooks into the Montafon for the use of hydropower . The current payment counts as compensation for the immeasurable damage.

The Paznaun community association, to which the mayors of the communities See , Kappl , Ischgl and Galtür belong , determines how these payments are used. This is obliged to submit an investment program lasting at least five years for the use of the money.

Around 1930 the Vorarlberger Illwerke started the construction of the Vermunt reservoir , which is located on Vorarlberg soil, but the right of use is incumbent on Tyrol , more precisely Galtür .
